Introducing St Neots Directory
Hunts Forum members Loves Farm Community Association have funded a new community directory for St Neots, this is what Ben Pitt of LFCA told us about the project:
Love’s Farm Community Association (LFCA) was recently awarded a Local Connections Fund grant from The National Lottery Community Fund to build a directory of community services for St Neots. The fund’s aim is to reduce loneliness by building community connections. The directory delivers on this by helping residents find local community activities that will foster friendships and support networks – something that is especially relevant as people rebuild their social lives after successive lockdowns. It also aims to increase awareness of the support services available in the town, particularly from the charity and community sector. A resident may visit the website to look for a toddler group or exercise class, but discover that debt advice and mental health support groups are also available locally.
Community directories are often discussed in the charity sector, but can prove to be hard to compile and to keep up to date. LFCA aimed to avoid these pitfalls by drawing on local knowledge to compile the data, along with professional web design and publishing skills from within the team to present it in a clear, friendly way. They plan to generate some income from the site via paid commercial listings, which should cover the cost of keeping the Directory up to date.
