Hunts Forum launch their ‘Good to know’ training sessions
Hunts Forum is pleased to announce the ‘Good to Know’ training session for members.
Starting in May, we will be hosting a number of one-hour online information sessions; a speaker will lead each session with knowledge of a community or subject relevant to Hunts Forum Members. From Cyber Security to Organisational Strategy, these sessions will be held on Wednesdays from May through to July;
These speaker-led informal hour sessions allow you to quickly learn the top tips on a subject while also allowing you to ask questions of an expert and have peer support.
We have the following training sessions already in place:
Be a cyber super sleuth (ways to protect yourself, your community and your organisation from cybercrime) Wed 24th May – 12.30 pm – 1.30 pm online
Do you know how to recognise a suspicious email or text message which could result in you disclosing private information or sending money to the criminal?
Raise your awareness of the threat of cybercrime and the measures you take to protect your organisation, yourself and beneficiaries.

In this session, Alison Lyons shares top tips from her 20 years working in local charities, on how to do strategy in a way that doesn’t feel like it’s adding to the burden, but lifting some of the weight.

Have you ever wondered whether you should be doing more or less DBS checking ? Georgina Mitchell from Disclosure and Barring Service https://www.gov.uk/dbs will give you information to help you clarify your current procedures.
In this session, we’ll be covering: what level of check a role may be eligible for, what each level of checks shows, filtering rules, what counts as regulated activity with children and adults, the importance of barring referrals and appropriate DBS checks.
Armed forces kitbag (who are the armed forces community and how you can work with them) Wed 12th July 12.30 pm – 1.30 pm online
Did you know Huntingdonshire has the highest number of serving and veteran armed forces residents in the County? Our armed forces community is a valuable resource but at times, a community in need your of support.
Has your organisation ever considered how it can be actively involved with the armed forces community?
Join this session for a quick tour of how you can understand and work with armed forces community in Huntingdonshire, hosted by Cambridgeshire’s Armed Forces Covenant Officer, Thomas Kelly.

Are the legalities of involving young people in volunteering, decision-making and benefitting from your organisation stopping you from including them? Would you like to think about how young people could be involved in the future?
Kerri Tonks, Community Youth Officer from Cambridgeshire County Council, will hold a discussion to why young people should be involved, plus the barriers and opportunities for local voluntary and community groups
