A Return-to Work Toolkit has been launched by Midlife 360 aimed at women looking for fulfilling work

Attracting Midlife Women in the Workplace

Midlife 360  with support from Places for People, have launched a Return-to-Work Toolkit to support older women as they look for new challenges in fulfilling work.

The toolkit provides information on CV writing, wellbeing, preparing for interviews and how to keep track of your applications. Ingrid Fawcett, who founded Midlife360 CIC alongside Sally Field, began to support women returners after her own experience of returning to work and talking to other women uncovered shared experiences of struggling to regain confidence, dealing with confusing menopause symptoms, coping with re-entering a much-changed workplace and finding new challenges as their caring responsibilities changed.

The latest Voluntary Sector Almanac from NCVO shows that 68% of staff in the voluntary sector are women, and the sector is home to the most experienced, oldest workforce of any sector in the UK with more than 28% of employees aged 55 and over, and more than 73% over 35! Older women also remain the demographic group with the highest level of active volunteering in their communities. This makes our sector an especially welcoming home for many highly skilled women returners looking for new and fulfilling work, though there is always room for improvement.

If you would like a copy of the toolkit for yourself or for the beneficiaries of your organisation, or if you would like to know more about how Midlife360 might be able to help you support the older women who work and volunteer with you, please contact Ingrid at hello@midlife360.org.uk or keep up to date with their activities on the Facebook page.
