Armed Forces Covenant
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly. As a development team, we represent Cambridgeshire’s Voluntary Sector on our local Armed Forces Covenant Board.
The board is made up of organisations and individuals involved in the armed forces community. This includes Cambridgeshire County Council, all district councils, community development workers from local active military bases, armed forces support organisations such as SSAFA, the RAF Benevolent Fund, cadets and reserves, and veteran associations.
Why should I be interested in this?
Depending on the type of organisation you are and where you are located, the Cambridgeshire Armed Forces Covenant Board provides a gateway to the armed forces community, whether these are actively serving families or veterans. It helps voluntary sector organisations connect with and understand the communities they want to reach.
Specifically, as an organisation, you may:
• Already support individual Armed Forces veterans or families and want to signpost them to specialised support.
• Want to connect to the communities within local active bases, cadets, or reserves.
• Have volunteering, training, or work opportunities that could be relevant to the armed forces community.
• Be interested in commemoration or heritage aspects and want to connect with local associations.
