Don’t Miss Out on Funding! Are You Making Full Use of the Support Cambridgeshire Portal?

Securing funding in the voluntary sector is increasingly challenging, with rising competition and limited resources.

The Support Cambridgeshire 4 Communities funding portal offers free access to over 2,500 local, regional, and national funding opportunities. It is the most up-to-date funding database in the UK, managed by Idox, whose dedicated team of researchers continuously updates and adds new funding opportunities.

As part of Funding Month, Matt Godfrey from Idox led an engaging session to demonstrate how to tailor searches effectively and maximise the benefits of the database.

Top Tips from the Session:

  • Save and Name Your Searches – This makes it easy to identify and revisit them later.
  • Search for Multiple Charities – If you’re involved in more than one charity, you can conduct searches for different funding opportunities. Just remember to save each search separately.
  • Be Clear About Your Area of Work – Defining your focus accurately helps refine search results.
  • Use Relevant Keywords – For example, search for terms like “green energy” to find specific funding opportunities.
  • Select the Correct Geographic Box – This refers to the funder’s location, not your project’s.
  • Tick the ‘Closed Applications’ Box – You’ll receive notifications when those funding streams reopen.
  • Check the CIC Box (If Applicable) – This will help identify funding opportunities available for Community Interest Companies (CICs).
  • Set Up Tailored Email Updates – Get alerts for new or reopened funding opportunities that match your needs.
  • Use the ‘Success’ Section – This can help identify funding already secured for similar projects, offering valuable insights.
